Once upon a time, long long ago there were two tribes.
One was a Maori tibe and the other was a Pakeha tribe.
There were so many issues going on between the two tribes in that time.
The war was all over our lovely New Zealand because both tribes wanted the land of New Zealand for themselves.
The tribes started fighting and the war began. The Maori and Pakeha tribes started physically and verbally fighting with each other. The two tribes became racist against one another and they started disrespecting the other race. The war went on for a whole year.
The war stopped in time because some of the members from the tribe spoke out and said "Lets stop fighting because everyone is getting killed and hurt. It is silly, can't you see?"
Then the next day they sat down and had a nice talk about their beautiful cultures and started sorting everything out because they realised they needed to learn about each others cultural identities.
Now they have learnt about the significance of land to the different tribes and about the history of both cultures. It was important for them to know and understand the differences between thier tribes, so they can try and understand each other before judging their actions.
The Maori and Pakeha tribe learnt to respect each other and learnt to share. The tribes resolved their problems and halved the land equally between them. The tribes learnt to value differnt cultures as it forms peoples identity.
The moral of the story is to learn how to share and to respect others

Football Superstar
It was my first game today against Melbourne Machines. I was playing for Sydney Blues. We were always the under dogs - we never made it to the Australian Nationals. This was the game to decide our place. We started the game and Louis scored the first goal to put us in the lead. At 14 minutes they struck straight away and it was 1-1. After that it was up to us to win the game and we went on to win the game 2-1. I scored the winner! We had finally made it. We were ecstatic.
We kept winning and made it to the Quarter finals against North Queensland Fury. We went into extra time on 0-0 but it looked hopeless until I scored a free kick from 35 yards away - we won that game. I was amazed .
It was the Semi-Finals against the reining champs Melbourne Victory. They had the most aggressive player in the tournament, Araan, he was named. We went into the break and all went well until Aaran decided that he was not happy about the score. I got the ball and he was on to me straight away. I dragged him one way and went the other - it was a nice play but then he came running at me with a studs up slide tackle. It felt like it was raining needles on my ankle. I took a look at it it was definitely snapped. They took me out on the stretcher and Aaran was red carded. They went on and won the game 2-1. My dream was not made into reality but I was proud of my commitments and my efforts.
I took two years off soccer and came back on a good start.

Climate Change - my view
Climate change is caused by humans dumping our rubbish on the ground.
Firstly, we are causing climate change by dumping our rubbish all over the ground and making a big pile of junk. To make us die
Secondly, humans are cutting down trees from forest’s to make paper and other things. From plants to trees to paper
Lastly, the vehicles are the most polluting things in the world. By producing CO2 in the air.
So that is why I think humans are causing climate change in the world!

A dark night
It was a cold and windy night. I was snuggled up in bed reading a book by my all time favourite author when suddenly there was a huge bang and my bedroom door flung open. As I stared at the door way a dark shadow appeared. It slowly crept up to my bed. I was shaking in my blanket, all terrified.
What could it be? I was too scared to think. It came closer and closer…I was screaming now, my eyes shut tight. Just then I heard someone laughing.
I opened my eyes and found out it was my brother who had tricked me. I was really angry at him but he kept on laughing and after a while I started laughing too.

Rainbow Warrior
Do you know what Rainbow Warrior is?
Do you know what a rainbow is?
Yes, a beautiful bow of colours in the sky.
Do you know what a warrior is??
A warrior is a brave person.
One who has courage instead of being afraid?
Now let me ask you a question.
Do you love animals or hate animals?
Do you love trees or hate trees?
Do you love people or hate people?
Do you love the rainbow or hate the rainbow?
Well, if you love animals and trees, people and
rainbows, then maybe you are a

New Zealand to help
Once upon a time in Papua New Guinea there was a war between Japan and P N G. Japan was trying to take over Papua New Guinea and claim it as their own, but P N G stood for their freedom.
Then one of the P N G commanders told the head of the troops that they are losing more men everyday so the head , communicated to N.Z and ask for help so it was N.Z to the rescue, now it was all up to N.Z to help stop the war.
The New Zealand troops got ready to go to war and fight as they believed helping others was important.
The army helicopters sent the troops over to P N G and they landed on the P N G’s territory. The New Zealand troops didn’t bring ammunition, just weapons as they were trying to stop the war.
The war has been going for 12 months and many soldiers have been killed. It was December 24th, Christmas Eve. The New Zealand troops rounded up the P N G troops and the Japanese troops for a meeting to make a treaty. This treaty was about leaving each country alone and making peace. Both Commanders from P N G and Japan thought this was a good idea and signed the treaty on behalf of their country.
On Christmas Day they came up on a hill and shook hands and celebrated Christmas as one army.
So since that day New Zealand is known for helping others.

My Fanastic Holiday
My holiday was awesome because I went to Gisborne.
I went swimming in the sea and had to put up tent. I saw many sheep and cows and had lots of nice food. And I did my math work and colouring competitions. I had great time and had so many fun times. I like Gisborne and I want to visit again. I miss my host family’s cousin. They were lovely and I like the nice green tree at the house. Great stuff. I like the freedom type of my holiday because I can relax and rest.
Thank you

The Woodcutter
There once was a man named Frank who lived in a city in the forest. He was a woodcutter. One day his a river so he prayed to the god of the water Randy to bring his wooden axe from the river back on land.
Randy swam as fast as ever down then back up. He gave Frank a golden axe. He said this is for asking so wonderfully. Frank told everyone in the town so all the woodcutters tried it and they did and sold it for money.
They were all being selfish and kept it all for themselves. They made people their slaves, it was awful. Then Frank couldn’t beat them alone so he asked for the help of Randy.
Randy called the heaviest monster ever, Lobster Man. He smashed the town and they created a new town.

Causes of Climate Change
Climate change impacts on nz because humans are using too many cars and buses instead of walking.
Firstly, cars use petrol and that causes green house gases including carbon dioxide and that’s not good for the environment and contributes to climate change.
Secondly, if people share pool with each other (share the same ride to work school or everyday things) it will save the use of petrol which in total means that less carbon is emitted into the atmosphere
Lastly, if people use petrol saving cars of electric cars it saves the use of petrol and which means you are using less or no petrol at all.
In conclusion these ways to save our planet may seem pointless now but it will save our future generation from going the down the wrong path because of our actions,
so we need to make a change.

The Snake
One day there was a snake head and a tail they lived together in the ground. Few days later tail wanted to changed positions so he can be at front and he doesn’t have to follow head. He thought it was good idea to change.
So the tail argued with head, “Why do I have to follow you?” said the tail. “I want to go where ever I want to go. You always go places that you like. Let’s change our position. I’ll be the head and you can be tale,” said the tale. “But you don’t even have any eyes,” said the head. “Who cares if we changed it? No body will know about this” said the tail.
After the arguing the heads gave up so they changed their position. Then the tale went to forest. Tail felt the liberty so he ran around. Suddenly he felt warm so he wanted to know what it was. When he came closer he felt so hot that his scale could burn. Then the tail knew he was at the middle of a fire. So the tail waked up the head.
Head told the Tail, “You said you want go any where you want to go? “But I don’t even have any eyes” said the Tail. “You said you don’t want to follow me. I’m sorry,” said the Tail. Then the head looked for a way to get out. When they came out the Tail thought to himself, “I would have died without head.”
When they came to their home the head said “Did you learn your lesson?” “Yep sure I did,” said the Tail. “I never want to be at the front. I never will change positions”. That night they thought today was the best day.

The Tree and the Children
In a school called North Primary, there stood a tree. The students of the school enjoyed climbing the tree but this made the tree angry by pulling its leaves and bending branches.
The tree would find ways of stopping the students like shaking its branches while the students climbed or dropping apples on their heads.
All the students began to think the tree was cursed. They began to climbing the smaller trees that surrounded the school. A lot of trees were
too small and often broke.
Tree felt sorry for the small trees and was disappointed with himself so tree changed its mind about the students.
Tree made a tree house on itself so the students started to leave the small trees alone and moved to the big tree. Students love that tree. The tree is happy with the students, they love it and tree now never hates students.

A small rat and the lions
Once in a forest by the sea lived a small rat .He had no friends he lived under a big green banana leaf. The forest was filled up with lots of trees. It was all dark and scary with the creatures making lot of noise. Everyday when rat goes out to find food he gets chased by the lions and he runs back to under the leaf.
The rat was small and the lions were big. The big lions were
bullying him. Everyday the lion would put traps for the rat but the rat always escaped the traps and runs and hides under his leaf. So everyday he stays hungry and goes to sleep.
One day when the lion was looking out for rat the saw a big elephant coming towards them. When they tried to run they slipped and fell down and the elephant caught them with his long trunk When the lion asked for help from rat he didn’t help him until the lion promised not to bully him anymore.
So the rat climbed up the elephant’s trunk and the elephant got scared and threw the lion far far away. The lion escaped and the elephant was never seen again.
Now everyday when rat goes out to find food ,the lions don’t bully him anymore.
Morale: Just because they are small and weak, never try and bully them.

My First Day in New Zealand
Hello everybody. This is my first day, happy day and interesting day in New Zealand. Here I am coming from Kenya on an aeroplane to New Zealand. This is the day I am gonna meet my aunt, uncle and cousins. I arrive in New Zealand on 27th October 2009 and that day is the day that I meet my uncle's family.
They took us from the airport to the Mangere Refugee Centre Service. We got to meet lots of new people who were going to help my family. It was good to see different things from our country and from New Zealand. We had a good lunch with my cousins and then we played on the play ground.
It is 4.20pm - I was really happy and tired because I played too much. My uncle took us to his home for a dinner.
It was my favourite day that I will never forget in my whole life. I found out that New Zealand is as beautiful as we were told.
I love u New Zealand.

Magic and the Village
Once upon a time there was a village called Mythi and the village was full of mythical creatures. Tere was a family who also lived there and they were mother and daughter and they were the only ones of their species. They were called Tigeress. The mother was called Amery and the daughter was Tigiveress. Their magic was contained in a flute and they also had some normal magical powers.
The villagers looked to Amery and Tigiveress to protect the village and in return the people protected Amery and Tigiveress. These beautiful creatures had lived for over 3,000 years but they still loved young. They could talk to the trees, make the trees leaves fall to the ground, make seeds grow real fast and they could make water and fire dance.
One day the village was attacked by another village and Amery was shot and she died. Tigiveress got away unharmed and was hiding out. Now it is up to her to save all of the kind villagers and all the other creatures that also lived in the village.
To be continued.

Visiting Friend
My friend is coming to New Zealand. Yay!!!! Her name is Issie and while she is here we are going to Rotorua, Wellington, Whangarei and of course Auckland.
In Rotorua we are going up on the Skyline and then back down real fast on the Luge. We will also visit Rainbow Springs, Paradise Valley Springs and go horse riding.
In Wellington we are going to the zoo and do other cool stuff like visiting Te Papa.
In Whangarei we are going camping at the most beautiful beach and in Auckland we are going to be doing everything like, visiting the zoo, the Sky Tower and learning how to ski and snowboard at Snow Planet. Awesome.
I think that the best thing will be the camping trip. We will get to go swimming everyday and I will get so tanned playing in the sun. Yay - can't wait. Bye for now.

THE JELLY BEAN WAR
Once there lived a big scary black widow and a not so scary white tail. They weren’t too normal they had a problem, a big problem. The white tail spiders loved white jelly beans and the black widow spiders loved black jelly beans.
It all started long ago where there lived a queen black widow called Queen Ebony. There tribe lived under a big dark cave. On the other side of town there lived the white tails who were the black widows worst nightmare. Queen Ivory is the queen of the white tails.
These two spider families have been at war for as long as anyone can remember, over white and black jelly beans and causing all the chaos. In the war they use anything in sight but the main weapon was their coloured jelly beans.
As they were hard at war, suddenly from a distance “stop the war!! Do we actually need to fight over jellybeans?” said Queen Ivory. “No” said Queen Ebony. Both spiders tried each other’s jelly beans and they came to a conclusion that all jellybeans taste the same. So all war stopped and instead of being enemies they are now close friends.
Moral is even though they liked different things they should still treat each other nicely.

EZIO
One day there was a boy called Ezio. His family were the worst family in all of Italy so people in his school made fun of him. They made fun of him because his family were not very smart or rich. The boy that bullied him was called Max.
Ezio went home and his mum was on the roof his dad was hiding under the couch and his sister was on the road squealing for no reason. Then he ran away because he was just going to be bullied and he never wanted to be found.
Then the news was out. People were looking for him everywhere and his mum and dad were so sad. Max felt so bad he look for hem and he found him and he told hem he was sorry and Max also realised that he needs to tolerate with other even if they are not every smart or have a different religion. So then Ezio came back and no one bullied hem because they know that they had to tolerate with other people and Ezio and max became friends and his parents would stop being weird and so would his sister.
This story is about tolerance and tolerating other people who are different from you.

This story is about tolerance and tolerating other people who are different from you.

The Angry Snake
Once upon a time there was a bird flying around the desert where he could see this cool snake but the snake didn’t look very nice.
One day the snake was very angry. The bird had liked the snake. But she didn’t know he was an angry snake. So the bird asked do you want to be my friend. Snake didn’t say anything to the bird. The bird asked him again he still didn’t say anything. So the bird brought him some food. Snake said thank you little bird. The bird asked him one more time do you want to be my friend. HE SAID YES. The bird said would you like some more food snake he said yes please. The bird brought him some more food.
So don’t judge people by there looks. Because you might actually get on with them.

Story in the Island
One day there lived a family on a beautiful island with lots of other islanders that nearly look the same and every one was brown and tan. Their lived a family called Mele the mum, Sione the dad, Letisia the older sister, Angel the younger sister and Lisitoni was the younger brother. This family lived at this beautiful island for 6 years. The king of the island didn’t want any other culture to come into their island.
One day the children were playing Tolopato in their back yard. They noticed a family moving in next door. The people of the island were scared and afraid because they have never seen white people. They told every one to not go near the white family. When the white family was unpacking, Angel came outside and played and accidentally kicked the ball next door. Angel was crying because her ball was over the fence so she ran up stairs and called out “Letisia” “Letisia” Letisia”. Letisia replied “WHAT”. Angel cried and said “my ball is over the fence can you please go and get it because I’m “scared”. Letisia said “I’m not scared of them I’ll go and get your ball”. So she went and knocked on the door and asked if she could get the ball from their back yard. While she was waiting for someone to open the door she was thinking why are white people are staying in a brown persons land. Sarah opened the door and said “hi can I help you”? Letisia said “yes can I please get my ball from the back yard”?
So Sarah went and got the ball and said “maybe we can hang out sometime yeah”? Letisia said yeah sure. Then she came home and told her mum, “I have never seen any one that white”. Mum replied “don’t you go near them”. Letisia said “their daughter is nice”.
The next morning Letisia was walking to school and she heard someone calling her. She turned around It was Sarah calling and running up the hill. Letisia said under her breath “oh no”! Sarah catches up and said “I’m going to the same school as you to Eua high school. When Sarah was walking she was scared that her friends might hate her for hanging out with a white girl.
When they got to school her friends were running to her then they saw a white girl with her that had blond hair and really skinny. The were all talking and Letisia‘s friends asked “who‘s your friend here”? “Letisia said” “this is my next door neighbour Sarah”. While they were talking the bell rang they all said bye and ran to class.
When the bell rang for home time she ran out and looked for Letisia.
When she saw her she ran because the boys were bullying her and teasing her about her white skin. She was in tears and When Letisia saw her running and crying she kind of got upset because it felt like they have been friends for ages. She asked “what’s wrong”? She said “I want to go home you want to come”? Letisia said “yeah let’s go”.
While they were walking she asked “are you a fan of Justin Bieber”? Letisia started to scream “hell yeah I love him”. Sarah said “me too and I have his CD so I can give you one because I have 3 of them”. Come around after you eat get and changed. Letisia went and told her mum the whole story. So the mum said you can go next door then but take this plate of food and give to her mum and tell her I said hello. So mum went and told the king the whole story to the king and told the king that they are not enemies. King came and welcomed their family to their island. So they all lived happily ever after.

Who are you? Where are you come from?
(My folk tales)
February 1st (Today my journal story is start)
l am going to say my some experience,
Finally l go to New Zealand school!! YAY!!!
But quite nervous how can l go to NZ school and speak English and meet kiwi friends!! Any way l am come from South Korea and l has great opportunity to came here and today l am going Northcote Intermediate school, teacher is Miss Gardiner.
All was good but when l in the classroom l was so nervous teacher say to what is your name? Where are you come from? I said my name is Lucy and l am, come from South Korea. Teacher said to me some Korean languages.
Classmate looks nice and l think how would l stay here and speak English always!!
It is not just easy it is hard but l needs to try harder than other friends to improve. When is first class time l don’t even know what teacher saying l am listening but l want to know what that mean.
That happen again and again some people mean to me sometimes and say something feeling not good words l want to know what is that mean.
Anyway l love my school very much and here is not rush to student to study but l think my school so intermediate student is not study really much. And now l can feel how hard to get another cultural and l think some people don’t like my country or mean to me. Some people don’t but l am proud of my country and l will win at the study and lf l want to win l need study more harder. Of course.
And l want to be very great person. And those are why l am came here and learn English.
English is my second languages. And that is hard l am proud of what l know languages (Korean, English, SOME Chinese and Japanese).
Some people just know first languages. And in South Korea l am much easier to understand what teacher saying.
And New Zealand has many nice things
And l like here with very much. South Korea and New Zealand is big different. New Zealand is nice green sincerely, but bit boring. South Korea is exciting and interesting but busy.
Any way l want to other friends respect me and l will work harder. l think respectful is very good. I am exchange student and come from another cultural so l can understand some people don’t understand me don’t like me. I have got friends they all nice. I want to make good experience in New Zealand. Yay!
